Senator Markey Delivers Remarks, Earns Win at Malden Democratic Caucus
Monday, February 24, 2020
MALDEN — Senator Ed Markey received strong support across the state. Earning a clear win at the Malden Democratic Caucus, Senator Markey addressed over 200 supporters, local officials, and caucus-goers. He spoke about his efforts on a range of issues, such as protecting our climate, fighting for common-sense gun safety, pushing for the goal to cure Alzheimer’s by 2025, and securing needed funding for a range of key infrastructure projects in cities and towns across the state.
The Ed Markey for US Senate campaign was triumphant in each corner of the state, from the Senator’s hometown of Malden, to Sunderland, to Belmont and Yarmouth—and beyond. In the first weekend of the caucus process, which will take place over the next five weeks, voters turned out big for Ed Markey, reflecting his strong support all across the state.
Senator Markey has secured the endorsements of several major progressive groups, including the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice, the NRDC Action Fund, and Peace Action. Markey has also been endorsed by 20 mayors from across the Commonwealth who plan to stand with the Senator as he seeks re-election this September. Last week, UNITE HERE Local 26, a hospitality workers’ union, announced its endorsement of Ed Markey.
Senator Markey has served in the United States Senate for the last six years and is widely regarded as the leading member of Congress on environmental issues. He has also led legislation to protect consumers and address the opioid epidemic, internet privacy concerns, and net neutrality.
