Tuesday, February 11, 2020
BOSTON – Willie Burnley Jr. has joined Ed Markey’s campaign for re-election to the United States Senate as a Regional Organizing Director. Prior to joining the Markey campaign, Willie served as Campaign Manager for Nicola Williams’s campaign for Cambridge City Council and as a Field Organizer for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s re-election campaign.
Willie is the Regional Organizing Director for Suffolk County, supervising field organizers in the Boston-area. He is also organizing in Everett.
“Willie Burnley is a talented campaign veteran with significant experience in both organizing and management,” said Campaign Manager John Walsh. “He consistently seeks to bring in and elevate voices traditionally marginalized from the political conversation. We are excited to welcome Willie to Team Markey, as we engage with diverse communities throughout the Commonwealth to build a dedicated, compassionate, grassroots coalition.”
“Throughout his career, Senator Markey has been a champion for progress on issues big and small. Whether it’s fighting the climate crisis, working to make health care affordable, or taking on the issues that affect working-class families. He is a true advocate for Massachusetts and not only listens to the needs of his constituents but raises and elevates their voices in the halls of Congress. I am proud to work for someone who spurns the spotlight to work selflessly for his constituents, and look forward to joining the hardworking and diverse Organizing Team to re-elect Ed to the U.S. Senate,” said Burnley.
Willie resides in Somerville. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, with a minor in Sociology from Emerson College.
