WEST ROXBURY — Senator Ed Markey saw strong support, earning a clear win at the Boston Ward 20 Democratic Caucus. The Senator welcomed over 150 local officials, supporters, and caucus-goers, speaking about his efforts on protecting our climate, fighting for common-sense gun safety, pushing for the goal to cure Alzheimer’s by 2025, and delivering needed funding on a range of key infrastructure projects in cities and towns across the state.
The Ed Markey for US Senate campaign was triumphant in each corner of the state, from the Senator’s hometown of Malden, to Sunderland, to Belmont and Yarmouth—and beyond. In the first weekend of the caucus process, which will take place over the next five weeks, voters turned out big for Ed Markey, reflecting his strong support all across the state.
Senator Markey has secured the endorsements of several major progressive groups, including the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice, the NRDC Action Fund, and Peace Action. Markey has also been endorsed by 20 mayors from across the Commonwealth who plan to stand with the Senator as he seeks re-election this September. UNITE HERE Local 26, a hospitality workers’ union, also recently announced its endorsement of Ed Markey.
Senator Markey has served in the United States Senate for the last six years and is widely regarded as the leading member of Congress on environmental issues. He has also led legislation to protect consumers and address the opioid epidemic, internet privacy concerns, and net neutrality.
