BOSTON — The Ed Markey for U.S. Senate campaign today released a new television ad featuring Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), who co-authored the Green New Deal with Markey in February 2019. The 30-second ad begins airing on Thursday, July 30 and will be a central part of the campaign’s communication on broadcast and cable in all Massachusetts media markets.

In the new ad titled “Ideas,” Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez describes Markey as the “strong progressive leader” our country needs to address the problems of systemic injustice and inequality, noting his leadership on the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and his work to address racial injustice.

In the spot, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez says that “When it comes to progressive leadership, it’s not your age that counts. It’s the age of your ideas.”

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez first won her Congressional seat in 2018 and recently won her re-election primary in June.

The television ad begins airing as the first round of mail-in ballots have been sent to Massachusetts voters.

The problems we are facing today of systemic injustice and inequality require strong, progressive leaders.

And Ed Markey is that champion.

He was an original co-sponsor of Medicare for All, he co-authored the Green New Deal with me last year, and he is a stalwart champion for racial justice.
