Boston, MA – The Boston-area hospitality and food service workers union, UNITE HERE Local 26, today announced their endorsement of Ed Markey. The 12,000-member union is one of the most diverse and politically powerful organizations in the city of Boston. 

UNITE HERE Local 26 President Carlos Aramayo said "Now is not the time to stand still. Senator Markey stands for real pay and real healthcare. He fights to lift standards for working families, and when we lift workers out of poverty, we lift our whole community—pushing back against those who try to divide and exploit us. That's why we're proud to stand with Senator Ed Markey." 

The Senator recently met with workers from the Seamark restaurant in the Encore Boston Harbor Casino who are seeking to join UNITE HERE Local 26.

They deserve respect and real protections on the job,” said Senator Markey. “From the concession stand workers at Fenway, to university dining hall staff, to the hotel workers who keep our tourism economy booming, these are the essential workers who make Massachusetts run. In the Senate, I’ll keep fighting to protect the right to organize, to hold corporate interests accountable, and to make sure one job is enough to earn a living with dignity and security.
