BOSTON (March 24, 2020) – Senator Ed Markey and labor attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan will host a livestream discussion on how the public health crisis is impacting independent contractors and members of the gig economy.
Topics will include the inherent issues that gig economy workers face, including lack of health insurance, workplace protections, and paid sick leave. The conversation will also focus on federal legislative solutions proposed by Senator Markey, legal approaches to address the crisis taken by Shannon Liss-Riordan, and the implications of the proposed federal relief package for gig economy workers.
