On the Day of the Senate Primary Debate, Senator Ed Markey Announces More Western Massachusetts Endorsements
Supporters Include Mayors, City Councilors, and School Committee Members

BOSTON— Ahead of the Western Massachusetts Senate Debate, Senator Ed Markey today announced a growing list of endorsements from Western Massachusetts mayors, city councilors, school committee members, and progressive organizations. The endorsements include: Agawam Mayor William Sapelli, Chicopee Mayor John Vieau, Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner, Greenfield City Councilor Sheila Gilmour, Greenfield School Committee Member Glenn Johnson, Greenfield Democratic Town Committee Chair Elizabeth Fisk, Former Greenfield City Council President Dani Letourneau-Therrien, Northampton City Council President Gina-Louise Sciarra, Northampton Councilor At Large William Dwight, Northampton City Councilors Karen Foster, John Thorpe, and Rachel Maiore, Easthampton Town Councilors Owen Zaret and Tom Peake, Amherst Town Councilor Evan Ross, former State Representative Dan Bosley, former State Representative Sherwood Guernsey, Chair of the Berkshire Brigades Lee Harrison, former Greenfield School Committee President Adrienne Nunez, Pittsfield Community Activist Shirley Edgerton, Pittsfield School Committee Member Katherine Yon, North Adams City Council President Jason LaForest, and North Adams City Councilor Lisa Hall Blackmer.

Senator Markey has served in the United States Senate since winning the special election in 2013 and has amassed a deep record on environmental, climate, gun safety, and consumer protection issues. He co-authored the Green New Deal, and his leadership has led to legislation to address the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, protect LGBTQ+ rights, and ensure that Donald Trump cannot launch a nuclear first strike without Congressional approval. Raised in Malden, Ed Markey has always stood up for the priorities of Massachusetts.
