North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Ed Markey for U.S. Senate
February 18th, 2026
BOSTON, Mass. — The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC), representing more than 30,000 active and retired carpenters, pile drivers, millwrights, floor coverers, and shop workers across New England and New York, today announced its endorsement of Senator Ed Markey for re-election to the Senate.
NASRCC members are helping build Massachusetts’ clean energy and infrastructure future – from offshore wind projects like Vineyard Wind 1 and Revolution Wind to major bridge and transit upgrades across New England. The NASRCC is part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
“On behalf of our membership, I'm proud to endorse Senator Ed Markey for re-election,” said Joe Byrne, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. “Senator Markey has shown how commitment and experience can be used to benefit union workers in Massachusetts. He has stood by our side in securing infrastructure funding and protecting high standards on the job. He led the fight to protect workers' rights to organize and engage in collective bargaining. He knows what it takes for a working-class union family to survive because he comes from one himself. He's never forgotten where he came from or who he is fighting for, and that makes him the right Senator for union carpenters.”
Senator Markey helped write, negotiate, and pass the landmark 2024 Inflation Reduction Act – the largest climate and clean energy investment in American history – ensuring clean energy tax credits were tied directly to project labor agreements, prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements so union workers lead the work.
“I am deeply grateful for the endorsement of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters,” said Senator Ed Markey. “Carpenters are builders in the truest sense – building the future of Massachusetts from new biotech laboratories and cutting-edge research facilities to new housing developments to the green energy projects that are reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and delivering cheaper, cleaner energy for families and businesses across Massachusetts.”
“I have always stood shoulder to shoulder with union carpenters – fighting to ensure that federal investments create good-paying union jobs right here in Massachusetts," Markey added. "And I will continue to fight every single day in the Senate to protect union jobs, strengthen apprenticeships, and expand opportunities for working families.”
