BOSTON, Mass. – On the debate stage Tuesday night, Congressman Seth Moulton refused to be specific about releasing his 2025 tax return or his financial disclosure, brushing off the legitimate question by claiming he “just learned about this today.”

The Markey for Senate campaign is renewing its call for Seth Moulton to release his 2025 tax return and personal financial disclosure with the House Clerk’s office. 

“No one is buying Congressman Moulton’s excuses,” said Markey for Senate Campaign Manager Cam Charbonnier. “Voters have a right to know about his stock trading and massive investments. He should release his taxes and financial disclosure now and stop hiding behind excuses.”

BACKGROUND:

• On Tuesday, the Markey for Senate campaign voluntarily released the Senator’s 2025 tax return and called on Congressman Moulton to do the same so voters get a clear and complete picture of the financial interests, investments, and potential conflicts of those seeking to represent them in Washington.
• In May, Moulton delayed filing his mandatory personal financial disclosure report, requesting a 90-day extension that pushes the filing and public release of the report to August 13, 2026 – by which point vote-by-mail ballots will already be reaching voters.
• During the Massachusetts Democratic Convention last month, Senator Markey rebuked Congressman Moulton for stock trading:
  • “Massachusetts deserves better than a Senator who cashes in— who trades stocks in companies with businesses before the very Congressional committees he serves on.”
  • “And we need to ban stock trading by members of Congress. Politicians should be answering to you, not their stock portfolios.”
