Markey Campaign Releases Senator’s 2025 Tax Return, Calls on Seth Moulton to Do the Same
June 16, 2026
Boston, MA – Today, Senator Ed Markey released his 2025 federal tax return and called on Congressman Seth Moulton to immediately release his own tax returns and provide Massachusetts voters with full transparency regarding his finances before ballots are cast in the Democratic primary.
“The people of Massachusetts deserve a clear and complete picture of the financial interests, investments, and potential conflicts of those seeking to represent them in Washington,” said Senator Markey. “I am releasing my tax return, and I am calling on Congressman Moulton to do the same. Voters have a right to transparency and honesty from their elected representatives—we are accountable to them, not investment interests, CEOs, or shareholders."
Senator Markey’s call comes as Moulton has delayed filing his mandatory personal financial disclosure report, requesting a 90-day extension that pushes the filing and public release of the report to August 13, 2026 – potentially two weeks after mail-in voting has begun in the Democratic primary. Financial disclosures are among the primary tools available to the public for evaluating an elected representative's or candidate’s investments, stock trades, private holdings, and potential conflicts of interest. Congressman Moulton previously delayed filing his personal financial disclosure report when he ran for President of the United States in 2019.
Previous financial disclosure reports reveal that, over the course of his congressional career, Rep. Moulton's financial portfolio has grown substantially and has included investments in private companies, venture-style funds, and exclusive investment opportunities unavailable to most Americans. Several of these investments have been in companies with business or under the direct oversight of the House Armed Services Committee, on which Moulton serves. Moulton has previously been identified by several nonpartisan, credible watchdog groups as one of the most successful congressional stock traders in recent years.
“What is Congressman Moulton hiding?” said Markey campaign manager Cam Charbonnier. “Financial transparency for Senators is not a choice—it's a responsibility that comes with asking for the public’s trust. Congressman Moulton should release his taxes and personal financial disclosure now. The public should not have to wait until after voting has already begun to see basic information about this candidate's finances.”
As he did during his Senate campaigns in 2013 and 2020, Senator Markey is once again releasing his federal tax return to ensure full transparency and accountability to Massachusetts voters. Those seeking the public's trust should be willing to provide a clear picture of their financial interests before ballots are cast – not after.
The Markey campaign is calling on Congressman Moulton to immediately release his tax returns and financial information so voters can make an informed decision with all the facts in hand.
