Sunrise Movement and Voters of Tomorrow Endorse Senator Ed Markey for Re-Election
April 18th, 2026
BOSTON, Mass. – Sunrise Movement, the nation's largest youth-led climate organization, and Voters of Tomorrow, the country's leading Gen Z political organization, today announced their endorsements of Senator Ed Markey for re-election.
The dual endorsement underscores Senator Markey's decades-long record of standing with young people in the fights that matter most – from co-authoring the Green New Deal and championing a livable planet amid this climate crisis, to defending access to affordable health care, to standing up to Donald Trump and MAGA extremism in the Senate.
“Senator Ed Markey has been a leading climate champion in the fight for a Green New Deal and has stood with Sunrise from the very beginning,” said Sunrise Movement Executive Director Aru Shiney-Ajay. “He has championed historic climate investments that have successfully created jobs and lower costs for working people. He’s rallied with young people to fight back against Trump’s attacks on our communities and climate. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need to win a Green New Deal, and we are proud to re-endorse Senator Markey.”
“Senator Markey is a proven fighter for Gen Z. He understands that corporations and billionaires have rigged our democracy against young people and he knows that we need big, systemic reforms to make government work for us,” said Jackson Hurley, Director of Strategy and Outreach for Voters of Tomorrow. “From being the first Senator to call for the abolition of ICE, to fighting for transformational climate action, Senator Markey is leading on many of our generation’s most pressing issues. Gen Z cannot afford to lose one of our strongest allies in Congress, which is why Voters of Tomorrow is proud to endorse his campaign for re-election.”
“I'm deeply grateful for the endorsements of the Sunrise Movement and Voters of Tomorrow,” said Senator Ed Markey. “These are the organizers and the generation who have refused to accept a future of climate catastrophe and political cynicism, and who have instead built a movement powerful enough to change what's possible in Washington. From the Green New Deal to the fight for our democracy, young people have been leading, and I've been proud to follow their lead. I'll keep showing up, keep fighting, and keep delivering because this generation deserves a planet and a democracy worth inheriting.”
