BOSTON — The National Association of Government Employees NAGE/SEIU Local 5000 has announced its endorsement of Senator Ed Markey for re-election. For decades, Senator Markey fought alongside NAGE and its workers to repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO), finally delivering that victory with passage of the Social Security Fairness Act in 2024 for public employees in Massachusetts and around the country. NAGE/SEIU Local 5000 represents 22,000 workers in more than 60 state agencies across Massachusetts. 

Today’s endorsement follows endorsements from other Massachusetts unions, IBEW Local 103, AFSCME Council 93, the Massachusetts Nurses Association, and the New England Joint Board of UNITE HERE.
