Senator Ed Markey rallied hundreds of supporters across South Shore, South Coast and the Cape on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
FALMOUTH, Mass. – Today, Senator Ed Markey continued his statewide get-out-the-vote tour today, drawing hundreds of supporters across the South Shore, South Coast, and Cape Cod as he headlined major rallies in Marshfield and New Bedford and met with small business owners, supporters and community leaders in Fall River and Falmouth.
With just 23 days until the September 1 Democratic primary, volunteers launched canvasses in multiple communities while Markey rallied supporters around lowering costs for working families.
“Everywhere I went today – Marshfield, Fall River, New Bedford, Falmouth – people told me the same thing: the costs are crushing them, and Donald Trump is making it worse,” said Senator Ed Markey. “Lower utility bills. Lower housing costs. Medicare for All. That’s the fight, and I have plenty of it left in me.”
The day began in Marshfield, where nearly 150 supporters gathered at Levitate Backyard & Recicanna Surf before fanning out to knock doors across the region.
Markey then traveled to Fall River for lunch with local community leaders at Al Mac’s Diner before heading to New Bedford, where another large crowd gathered at Buttonwood Park to kick off additional canvasses.
He closed the day at Cape Cod Winery in East Falmouth, greeting more than 100 supporters while meeting with local small business owners and residents.
Throughout the day, Markey highlighted his work as Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, discussing ways to support local businesses while continuing to campaign on lowering costs for Massachusetts families.
