Rep. Richard Neal, State Legislators, and Regional and Local Leaders from 1st Congressional District Support Ed Markey for Reelection
July 8th, 2025
BOSTON— Congressman Richard Neal, dean of the Massachusetts delegation and top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, alongside 26 current and former state, regional, and local leaders from the First Congressional District representing the communities of Chicopee, Longmeadow, North Adams, Great Barrington, Holyoke, Pittsfield, Springfield, and West Springfield, are endorsing Ed Markey for reelection to the United States Senate.
“Ed Markey has a tremendous record securing victories for Western Massachusetts, and we need him back in the United States Senate,” said Rep. Neal. “I’m proud to have worked with Ed to secure funding for West-East Rail, rural broadband, clean energy and other critical infrastructure investments that will support economic development for decades to come. We can always count on Ed to fight for us, and I’m proud to endorse him for re-election.”
“Central and Western Massachusetts have a powerful and proven champion in Congressman Neal, who always puts working families first, and I’m honored to have the endorsement of my friend and dean of the delegation,” said Markey. “His leadership, his seniority, and his tenacity have resulted in the expansion of quality health care, critical investments in transportation and infrastructure, and the creation of good-paying jobs that make this region a vibrant place to live, work, and play.
“All of these leaders have in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing our Massachusetts communities, and they lead with dedication and solutions,” continued Markey. “Together, we've helped secure COVID-19 relief for our families and small businesses. We've been able to provide funding for childcare and schools, transportation centers, clean energy deployment, community health centers, and housing projects. There is more work to be done, and I look forward to continuing our work together in the U.S. Senate on behalf of everyone in the First District.”
