Local Chapter of National Grassroots Organization Support Comes As Voting Nears, Adding to Campaign Momentum
Friday, July 31, 2020
CONCORD — Concord Indivisible endorsed Senator Ed Markey for re-election to the United States Senate this week, giving him a 98 percent favorability rating. The announcement comes as mail-in and early voting nears in the primary election.
“Indivisible Concord’s endorsement shows the strength of the grassroots, progressive movement in this race,” said Senator Markey. “I am honored to have their support, and together, we will fight to bring about Medicare For All, racial justice, and meaningful, equitable action on climate change.”
“With decades of bold leadership in the Senate, Ed Markey blazed a trail with the Green New Deal, is the senator with the most bills passed with bicameral support, and has earned endorsements from a veritable who’s who of progressive organizations and individuals. Concord Indivisible is proud to add our endorsement to the many,” the organization said. “His policies and positions are so closely aligned with CI’s priorities: environmental protection, energy innovation, income equality, racial and gender justice, consumer protection, gun control and universal healthcare, to name a few.”
Indivisible Concord’s endorsement this week adds to several recent endorsements — with fewer than 40 days until the primary voting ends — demonstrating that voters and organizations are responding to Ed Markey’s re-election message and know that he is the progressive leader with the track record and bold ideas we need now.
The local chapter joins the national Indivisible organization and Northampton’s chapter in endorsing Senator Markey. Several major progressive groups across the country have endorsed Senator Ed Markey for re-election, including: Our Revolution Massachusetts, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice, Progressive Democrats of America, the NRDC Action Fund, Daily Kos, and the Human Rights Campaign.
