BOSTON – The Ed Markey for U.S. Senate campaign today announced the endorsement of 14 Springfield and Hampden County elected officials, adding to the growing list of area supporters.
Springfield City Councilors Jesse Lederman, Melvin Edwards, Malo Brown, Sean Curran, and Tim Allen have all voiced their support of the Senator’s reelection to ensure that he continues to lead on the issues that matter most to the people of Massachusetts.
“No one has been fighting for the issues that impact communities like Springfield for longer than Senator Ed Markey,” said Lederman. “Now more than ever we need principled leaders with the type of integrity and consistency that Ed Markey has demonstrated his entire career.”
In addition, Sheriff Nick Cocchi, State Senator Jim Welch, and State Representatives Carlos Gonzalez, Jose Tosado, Bud Williams, Brian Ashe, and Tom Petrolati have also announced their support for Senator Markey’s re-election, along with Democratic State Party Chair Emeritus and former Representative, Ray Jordan, and Democratic State Committee Leader Candy Glazer.
This past week, Senator Markey has once again been in Springfield, visiting the Center for EcoTechnology, hosting a roundtable meeting to discuss Puerto Rico relief efforts, talking with customers at the Puerto Rico Bakery, and meeting with residents at The Student Prince & The Fort in Springfield Center.
These Springfield stops were in addition to the 25 events and stops across the state—from Gloucester to Pittsfield, to Acton, to Cape Cod and Worcester—so far during the first two weeks of January alone.
