BOSTON, Mass. – A newly released video outlines how Congressman Seth Moulton’s insider deals have made him millions of dollars. The exclusive, pre-IPO investments included weapons manufacturers that come before the very House Armed Services Committee he sits on. One of those companies includes Divergent Technologies, a firm recently praised by Donald Trump, is a major donor to Congressman Moulton.
A WBUR investigation last month found that while serving on that committee Moulton “amassed holdings worth between $1 -$5 million in startups tied to the defense sector” through deals “not available to average investors.”
Key moments from the video
MARKEY: “We’ve got to talk about Congressman Moulton’s investments. His private equity friends recruited him to invest in defense contractors and weapons manufacturers that come before the Armed Services Committee in Congress. He’s made millions from those investments. One of those companies: Divergent Technologies.”
MARKEY: “Let me make this crystal clear: Seth’s investments in Divergent Technologies – the 3D-printed weapons manufacturer that has teamed up with companies like Palantir to get weapons into Donald Trump’s hands faster. Just one? No – he invested in them twice, the second investment coming in the middle of Trump’s defense budget push.”
MARKEY: “Seth Moulton’s investments in the defense companies that come before his congressional committee are making him millions of dollars while American families struggle to pay for groceries and rent. It’s just plain wrong. It should be illegal.”
