BOSTON, Mass. – Today, Reproductive Freedom for All – the nation’s largest reproductive freedom organization powered by 4.5 million members – announced it is endorsing Senator Ed Markey for re-election.
“Four years after Dobbs, anti-abortion laws have put women’s health and lives in danger,” said Mini Timmaraju, President and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All. “As Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans work to push our country even further backward, Senator Ed Markey has remained a steadfast defender of abortion rights and contraception access. Ed will always fight to protect reproductive freedom and empower people to make decisions about their own body, health, and future. Ed is the proven fighter we need in the Senate, and Reproductive Freedom for All is proud to endorse him for reelection."
Senator Markey thanked Reproductive Freedom for All for the endorsement:
“I am proud to earn the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom for All and its 4.5 million members,” said Senator Ed Markey. “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are trying to turn back the clock to a time when women had fewer rights, fewer choices, and less control over their own lives. They overturned Roe, and now they are coming for medication abortion, contraception, IVF, and Planned Parenthood – even reaching back to a law written before women could vote to control the care people can receive today. The right to an abortion, the right to contraception, and the right of every person to live with dignity are fundamental freedoms, and I will fight with everything I have to defend them and restore Roe nationwide.”
Reproductive Freedom for All’s endorsement adds to Senator Markey’s strong support from leading reproductive rights organizations, including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which endorsed his re-election campaign in April.
Background on Senator Markey’s reproductive freedom record:
Women’s Health Protection Act of 2025: In June 2025, on the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade, Senator Markey joined the entire Senate Democratic caucus in introducing legislation to guarantee access to abortion nationwide and restore the right to comprehensive reproductive health care for millions of Americans.
Right to Contraception Act: In February 2025, Senator Markey, as ranking member of the HELP Committee’s Subcommittee on Primary Health & Retirement Security, reintroduced the Right to Contraception Act with Senators Hirono and Duckworth to create a statutory right to obtain and use contraceptives and ensure health care providers can continue to provide contraception.
Spotlight Hearing on Republican Attacks on Birth Control Access: In July 2025, as Republicans gutted Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, Senator Markey and Rep. Lizzie Fletcher hosted a hearing, “A Right at Risk: Protecting the Right to Contraception and Reproductive Freedom in the Post-Roe Era” to expose how Republican attacks on birth control access threaten reproductive freedom nationwide.
