BOSTON – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) State Council, representing 10,000 unionized workers across Massachusetts, today announced their endorsement of Senator Ed Markey for re-election.

“The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) State Council is proud to endorse Senator Ed Markey for re-election. Our 10,000 members represent a broad coalition of workers; from the airport, the MBTA, Boston Water and Sewer, manufacturing and service workers, and we know that in every sector, Senator Markey has our back,” said IAM District 15 Assistant Directing Business Representative Mike Vartabedian. “We are living through challenging times, and workers are under attack – we need Senator Markey's leadership in Washington D.C. now more than ever. Ed will make sure our workers can freely organize, have health and safety protections on the job, and ensure that our jobs will be protected from technology that threatens public safety. Senator Markey has been a champion for our members and we will stand with him in his bid for re-election.”

Senator Markey has consistently fought to ensure that federal infrastructure and manufacturing investments translate into good-paying union jobs. Over the past several years, he helped deliver major federal investments to Massachusetts for highways, transit, bridges, and rail – strengthening the very systems machinists build and maintain.

“Unionized machinists are the backbone of our Commonwealth – building, maintaining, repairing, and defending the transit systems that keep Massachusetts moving,” said Senator Ed Markey. “At a moment when Big Tech barons are chasing automation without accountability and see AI as a way to cut labor costs and crush collective bargaining, I see a different future where technology works for workers – not against them. I am proud to be endorsed by the IAM State Council, and I will keep fighting to ensure the future of work is written by organized labor – not billionaires and algorithms.”
