What does Ed Markey do in the Senate?

Ed Markey has served as a United States Senator for Massachusetts since 2013. As the co-author of the Green New Deal, alongside Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ed Markey is the leading voice in the Senate on climate action. Where is Ed Markey from?

Ed Markey was born and raised in Malden, Massachusetts and today lives in the same house that he grew up in. Ed attended Malden Catholic High School and went on to be a commuter student at Boston College and Boston College Law School. Ed Markey worked as an ice cream man to help pay his tuition and later became a substitute teacher. Before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1976, Ed served two terms as the State Representative for the 16th Middlesex district, representing Malden and Melrose.

How do I register to vote in the September 1 Massachusetts Senate primary election?

Registering to vote is easy! You can register online or by mail by following the directions here. You need to be a U.S. citizen and 18 years old by the day of the election in order to vote. You can pre-register to vote as young as 16 years old. The deadline to register for an election in Massachusetts is 20 days before, which is August 12 for this year’s September 1 Senate Primary.
