BOSTON, Mass. — Today, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Chair Emerita of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, endorsed Senator Ed Markey for re-election.

Jayapal and Markey are longtime legislative partners: Markey is the lead Senate author of the Trans Bill of Rights, which Jayapal leads in the House, and the two reintroduced the AI Civil Rights Act together this Congress to root out algorithmic discrimination in housing, job employment, health care, and every aspect of daily life.

“Working families are getting squeezed from every direction – rent, groceries, child care, health care – and they deserve a Senator who wakes up every single day fighting to change that. Ed Markey is that senator,” said Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. “Ed always meets the moment and when human rights are under assault, Ed is always there – he is the lead Senate author of our Trans Bill of Rights, and when we saw algorithms deciding who gets a job, a home, or health care, he took on the harms of artificial intelligence as the Senate author of the AI Civil Rights Act. Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th Congressional District, built the Congressional Progressive Caucus into a bloc representing nearly half of the House Democratic caucus. Her endorsement adds one of the nation’s most prominent progressive voices to the coalition backing Markey’s re-election.
